Texas A&M plays its home games at Kyle Field in College Station, Texas. The team is currently coached by Kevin Sumlin.

In 1894, E. J. Stewart, professor of horticulture and mechanical arts at Texas A&M, organized a military band and formed a team of cadets to begin to play against other schools and military units around Texas. The first official game played by Texas A&M was on October 11, 1894, against Texas University. The game was played on Houston's West End Park and ended in a scoreless tie.

Twelve Texas A&M Aggies have been inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame, including former head coach Gene Stallings and Heisman Trophy winner John David Crow.
