The deal between Los Angeles and O'Malley was settled and on the September17, 1959, construction of Dodger Stadium began. The ballpark officially opened on April 10, 1962. Construction of Dodger Stadium cost 23 million dollars and was the first privately financed ball park since the opening of the Yankee Stadium on April 18, 1923.
